Detailed Plot;

Part One

The first part of The Genocide Machine was an enjoyable introductory part and established the setting and possible twists the unknown plot would take. The part begins with a salvage team trekking through a swampy and wet landscape in horrendous weather. Bev Tarrant was the women in charge and her team was comprised of Rappell and two robots. The foursome were on a hike from their ship to investigate a ziggurat, it was clear they were after something. Bev was definitely the women in charge. The mysterious ziggurat was something more, it had the sound of something ever so familiar. From within the salvage team were being listened to, what they were after was definitely more than a ziggurat.

The TARDIS interior was now heard and within was the Seventh Doctor and Ace, recently heard in The Fearmonger. Ace was looking through the TARDIS library, something I imagine is nothing short of spectacular, and it was humorous how the Doctor always planned on sorting it out every 50 years or so but he always failed. Ace pointed out how the Doctor still had some library books from the planet Kar-Charrat, a planet with every scrap of information from every civilised planet. The Doctor admired it and said it even rivalled the matrix on Gallifrey! The Doctor intended on returning to Kar-Charrat's library to return the books which were long overdue. The Doctor described how the planet was a wonder of the universe, but if fallen into the wrong hands then it was a very dangerous weapon! The TARDIS materialised on Kar-Charrat, the same planet that Bev Tarrant was investigating a presumed valuable ziggurat, and the Doctor finally used that famous old umbrella for its purpose. The weather was still torrible. The Doctor explained how the library was hidden at the top of a mountainous area. But the TARDIS had been detected.

The Daleks were here! They'd detected the materialisation of the TARDIS and they knew their greatest enemy was here. Bev and her salvage team were right by the ziggurat but from within a Dalek rose and destroyed the two robots of her team. Rappell was firing at the Dalek with no result, it was immune to gun shot and the Dalek exterminated Rappell, he was dead. Bev had also been caught by the Dalek but wasn't dead, she was though wounded.

Ace found herself suddenly alone in the middle of the heights of the mountain, she was worried and was convinced something was sneaking up on her. She suspected she'd seen phantoms! There was confusion but the Doctor soon clarified that as he literally came out of nowhere into Ace's company. The pair entered the library through a hidden temporal projection, a great hiding place. People thought the library had vanished! The Time Lords had helped with the hiding of the library and had you needed the right key to enter, or at least be time sensitive (not quite defined). The TARDIS pair now entered the library and Ace was impressed at how well it was hidden and the scale of it!

The Daleks were scanning the planet but didn't quite sound themselves, I hope they improve as the story and future audios go on. A chief librarian, Elgin, instantly recognised the Doctor upon his entry and referenced how he always had 'delightful companions.' So they'd met before, when the Doctor was travelling with a different companion other than Ace. I'm interested as to when that was. Cataloguer Prink was introduced but was quiet. Elgin seemed to remember the Doctor being a bit taller, the Fifth Doctor perhaps? He was last on Kar-Charrat when the Temporal Grid was erected.

The Doctor was surprised at how empty the library was and Elgin mentioned how he liked visitors. He also made references to the newspapers of The Sun and The Mirror and claimed his joy for 20th century Earth. The Doctor mentioned how he'd taken the books and this confused Elgin, the Doctor wasn't supposed to take them. Elgin was astounded at how the library hadn't realised the books were missing earlier. Prink placed the books back where they were categorised but still couldn't get any words in.

Bev was now sorry, she'd caused the death of her partner and two robots based on the greed for a millennia old ziggurat. She wasn't here for the library, Kar-Charrat certainly had a lot riding for itself! Suddenly, the G14 robot rebooted into life on emergency power. It confirmed that Bev had suffered extensive tissue damage to her leg and that she needed assistance. In the robot's last act of power, the medical pouch was opened and she could at least try and improve her injury. The robot even said 'goodbye.' Bev aimed to hobble back to her ship.

Back in the library and Elgin was extremely protective of the books within, claiming that they shouldn't even be touched! Isn't that the point of a book? To read. Ace shared my thought and questioned the usage of the books, she wasn't happy but the Doctor seemed to understand what Elgin meant. Ace wanted to return to the TARDIS. She was given a DNA tag by Elgin to enable her to enter or leave the library when she wished, but without entry wasn't possible. She headed back to the TARDIS and clearly wasn't fond of Elgin. The Doctor was now to be shown around the place and even he intended on reading a little.

Ace was now out in the swampy outdoors and again she heard phantoms. It was somewhat similar to those heard in Whispers of Terror. Visteen Krane making a return? I hardly thought so. Ace could hear calls for help from the phantoms, claiming they were both in need of it and able to give it. Ace was paranoid and wound up talking to herself while returning to the TARDIS. Meanwhile the Daleks plan was in commence and they needed a 'target required', the Dalek's weaponry was armed. A special weapons Dalek as seen in Remembrance of the Daleks

The Doctor now found himself mightily intrigued! He saw some water tanks and knew instantly that within the water was knowledge. Wetworks. A fascinating and impressive technology. The Doctor was impressed by the scale and the scale of his impressiveness was soon multiplied as Elgin revealed that the wetworks contained the entire knowledge of the universe! This couldn't be good, not with the Daleks close by.

Back outside and Ace had found Bev, she was in pain and Ace immediately tried helping. Bev explained how she'd been shot at by a Dalek, but of course she didn't know what it was that had done this. Bev was clueless about the library when Ace mentioned it as that's where the pair intended on heading. They didn't like the thought of a killer machine roaming amongst the jungle!

The Doctor was astonished by the scale of the wetworks, claiming it was above and beyond the matrix of Gallifrey. Elgin awkwardly avoided any questions on the tech aspects of the works but he did explain how a user could instantly acquire a huge load of information in milliseconds via a headset and link. But Elgin did also reveal how there were races that had got aggressive in trying to gain this magnificent wetworks. The Doctor questioned 'which?' The Doctor was mightily interested, he'd met so many horrific races and this knowledge could be used as their greatest weapon. The Doctor was concerned about races aggressive and wasn't convinced the Time Lord help in hiding the library would be enough. Elgin explained how there was one race in particular that worried the librarians. '...pepper pots.' The Doctor now knew his greatest enemies were on Kar-Charrat. The Daleks.

The Daleks had initiated phase two of their plan and a target had been located. Ace and Bev arrived near the entrance of the library after a difficult struggle up the mountainous land. But they couldn't enter, they'd been seen. Bev was 'pissed off' but the Dalek demanded no movement. The Daleks prepared for battle phase and immediately they had the upper hand. Ace was caught, 'The companion of the Doctor is now a prisoner of the Daleks.' A great cliffhanger! One of which I hope the story can now really kick into gear and produce something brilliant.

Part Two

The second part of the audio began with the Doctor confused as to how the Daleks had found out about the library. He immediately suspected the Daleks would soon attack but Elgin was certain that the library's temporal defences would work. He mentioned how the Daleks had previously tried to attack years ago, but gave up. This concerned the Doctor even more, Daleks don't just give up.

The Daleks were making final preparations for a battle phase and they were communicating with the Dalek mothership, many more Daleks were close by. The Doctor though was growing concerned and wanted to test the temporal defences for himself. Cataloguer Prink was to show the Doctor where the defences were but he was called for so Elgin would now show the worried Time Lord. The Doctor was searching and now concluded that the Daleks hadn't given up, but they were simply testing the strength of the temporal defences for their own information. The Doctor was now worried for Ace, he was certainly demonstrating a lot of caution and worry. Elgin didn't know what all the fuss was about though claiming that the Dalek attack was years ago, but the Doctor thought it likely that there was still a Dalek lurking about near the outskirts of the library. He wanted to find his companion.

The Doctor and Elgin left the library into the swampy outdoors. They soon found Ace who was drowsy and Bev who was badly hurt. The Doctor was to take them into the library for medical help. The Daleks were now heard but Ace was there as well! She mentioned how the Dalek was 'some kind of special weapons model', so the special weapons Dalek as seen in Remembrance of the Daleks, or at least another version, was here and had captured Ace. It seemed that the Daleks had duplicated Ace, just like they had the Doctor in The Chase. Bev wasn't with Ace inside the mothership, the Daleks had no use for her so mustn't have duplicated her. They did though have a huge amount of use for Ace, knowing she was the companion of the Doctor. Ace was questioning the Daleks but was soon put in a painful restraint field, the Daleks were in command. They'd ask any questions. It was confirmed that Ace had been duplicated and that now she was to be teleported to the Dalek mothership itself, for use of the Dalek Supreme! Judging by the CD artwork, the same Dalek Supreme that the Third Doctor had encountered in Planet of the Daleks

Worryingly for Ace, the duplicate now had possession of the DNA key which enabled her access to the library, the real Ace would no longer be able to enter. But that wasn't the bad thing, through the duplicate, the Daleks now had a way in and their destructive plan was into fruition.

The Doctor was questioning the Ace duplicate but she acted confused, refusing medical help and not giving away anything. She quickly ridiculed the suspicion of a Dalek in the woods and instead claimed she and Bev were attacked by an animal. Meanwhile, the Daleks were now contacting their duplicate and had complete control over it, obeying any orders the Daleks gave. The Doctor though knew that Ace was hiding something. He talked to Elgin, questioning Bev and her reason for being on the planet. She was still unconscious. Elgin mentioned that she was possibly interested in the Kar-Charrat ziggurat and immediately the Doctor wanted to go.

Ace had been teleported to the Dalek mothership but she wasn't to be killed, at least not until the Daleks had acquired all knowledge. They did though plan on exterminating all library humanoids. Ace had trust in the Doctor though, she was confident he'd realise that the Ace in the library was merely a duplicate. The Daleks' plan was now about to take centre stage and they ordered the duplicate to deactivate all the library defences. Disaster.

It was revealed that the Doctor had been away from Kar-Charrat for hundreds of years and the Daleks had simply been waiting for another time capsule to arrive ever since, they had no weakness of being impatient. The TARDIS had now given rebirth to their conquering plan, they needed someone time sensitive. Who better than their greatest enemy?

The Doctor and Elgin, en route to the ziggurat, saw the dead salvage team that accompanied Bev. The cause of death was clear and if it wasn't already, this confirmed to the Doctor the presence of the Daleks. He guessed that were friends of Bev and due to their location and tools they were after the ziggurat, quite literally! They intended on stealing it, the salvage team were thieves. A bit more insight into Bev Tarrant. But the Doctor seemed to think something mysterious had occurred, that a body was missing. Blood was on the ground, but it was just the two robots who were dead. So where the hell had Rappell gone? The Doctor didn't though think it was like the Daleks to move a body, another race on Kar-Charrat? He remembered the legend of the phantoms. He recalled that Ace had heard something of the kind as well. It was greatly intriguing and mysterious!

The Doctor and Elgin soon arrived at the ziggurat... and it was open! Elgin was confused having studied it for years, to him it was just stone and rock. But the Doctor explained how it was clearly opened from the inside, the perfect hiding place. Meanwhile on the Dalek mothership, there was mention about test subjects who'd receive data. Were the Daleks building an army, a new race? I had the idea it was somewhat similar to the plans of the Cult of Skaro in Evolution of the Daleks. But it was yet to be clarified.

The Doctor and Elgin went into the ziggurat, confident that what was inside was now out. The Doctor explained how this was no ziggurat, but in fact it was a deep hibernation unit of the Daleks. The Doctor was fiddling around and knew that a type-70 TARDIS had been here before. But something more deadly he recognised, the Daleks had distinguishing software and could differentiate different types of TARDIS.

Elgin explained how on nearby planets there were many other ziggurats. But it was now clear, the Daleks were simply waiting. The Doctor recognised a duplication tool within the the unit and knew there'd be others around, and he now knew his companion had been duplicated. He knew Ace was a fake.

The Daleks were communicating with their duplicate in the library and now the defences were being shut down. Elgin was acting a little weird and I questioned whether he too was a duplicate. It was doubtful though. The library would soon be defenceless as the temporal barriers would be down in two minutes. The Daleks were ready and positioned and were able to descend.

Bev finally woke up in the library and could hear the phantoms. She could see them, she could see Rappell! He seeked help. Were the phantoms of Kar-Charrat really the dead? Meanwhile outdoors, the Doctor was running, worried, knowing the Daleks' intentions now. He couldn't afford to rest but Elgin was struggling and they stopped. But the Doctor was soon fascinated. He could hear phantoms too, Elgin was scared though. The Doctor thought there was something else alive on the planet, and all things seemed to point to the Time Lord being correct!

Overheard, engines were heard and a Dalek destroyer was heading for the library! The Daleks battle phase was in full throttle! The Doctor knew the library defences would be down and down they were. The duplicate Ace reported back to the Daleks explaining how there should be no resistance. The Daleks planned on taking over the wetworks and were to download all information into their test subjects. Kar-Charrat was now under Dalek control! A great cliffhanger to a very good part.

Part Three

The third part of the audio begins with all the library defences disabled. Elgin was horrified as he prized each and every book inside the library. The Doctor intended on getting to the TARDIS to try and get to the Dalek mothership, but he needed to get to his ship before the Daleks did. The Daleks had one command when in the library- to exterminate all unnecessary life forms but that didn't include the Doctor or any library technical staff such as Cataloguer Prink.

The Daleks had entered the library and were brilliantly their ruthless selves, exterminating everyone in sight. Within seconds they were in control of everything, including the wetworks. They had their test subject ready but the Daleks wanted to find the Doctor and capture him. They aimed to find the TARDIS now.

The Doctor was curious whilst roaming in the jungle. The mysterious phantoms were restless. Meanwhile, in a fantastic occasion for myself, the Daleks made contact with the Dalek Emperor on Skaro! Now due it being missing, I'd never watched the entity or even seen recons of The Evil of the Daleks, so to hear the Dalek Emperor in classic who was excellent! The Emperor's voice was magnificent, deep and commanding. The order was simple- make sure the download succeeded. The Daleks claimed though that they needed the Doctor because without him there was a 70% chance of the download failing.

Bev was intriguing to the Daleks, not part of the library staff so her presence was unknown. The Ace duplicate tried explaining but she wasn't to be exterminated until the Daleks knew her purpose on Kar-Charrat. The Daleks explained how they needed a brain of a Time Lord for a successful data transfer. Bev questioned the Skaro natives but was put to suffer. She explained how her purpose on the planet was to steal the ziggurat, she was no threat. However, they still had a use for her. She'd be used to lure the Doctor from the jungle.

The Dalek test subject (actually a Dalek, something I didn't feel was made clear), was linked to the data receiver of the wetworks. The stream activated and files were downloading. But there was cause for alert! It seemed there was an overload, or the load wasn't able to be controlled, was the subject destroyed? Not quite, but it was unstable and aggressive! It had gotten free of restraint and seemed minibus to extermination while exterminating around in its own right. I think it was clear that the download couldn't work without the brain of a Time Lord.

The Daleks had located the TARDIS and got their before the Doctor and Elgin. The pair were close to the ship but similarly to  The Daleks' Master Plan, the TARDIS was surrounded. The Doctor disingenuously said he and Elgin should feel honoured as the Dalek Supreme arrived on the planet. But now danger arised, the Doctor had been detected by Dalek sensors. They claimed they had the Time Lord surrounded and they also had Ace and Prink hostage. The Daleks demanded the surrender of the Doctor, or his companion would be exterminated. With one rel left, he gave himself up. He couldn't take the risk. He was now a Dalek prisoner.

The Daleks explained how their Dalek test subject would be the most advanced life form the universe had ever seen. The Daleks believed it was their right to be superior. The most advanced Dalek ever was to be created, but the wetworks were a little damaged thanks to the unsuccessful first test subject. By now, Cataloguer Prink was still quiet and couldn't fit in a word anywhere. Prink went with Elgin to repair the wetworks whilst the Doctor and Ace were placed in captivity in a room in the library.

Elgin was saddened by the damage the Daleks had caused to the library and his precious books. Bev was with the Doctor and Ace in captivity and she was formally introduced to the Doctor. The Doctor thought that there was something else here on Kar-Charrat, questioning the mysterious phantoms. Bev recalled how Rappell, despite being dead, visited her shortly after she regained consciousness after the cliffhanger of the first part.

Elgin had since fixed the wetworks and they were ready. The Doctor though concluded that the phantoms were real, a 'life in the rainwater that's slipped into legend.' Delicately put. It was though time for download and the Doctor was called for, this worried Ace. The Doctor was being wired into the grid by Elgin on the Daleks' command. The Time Lord made a humorous reference of how all you need is hands. Daleks always needed slaves.

The Doctor had worked out why he was being used. He could provide the pathway for the stream to enter the subject at an acceptable speed. The data would soon be in the Dalek. The Doctor was firmly fixed up and a second test subject was hooked. Elgin was worried for the Doctor, claiming the shock could kill him! The Daleks didn't care, to them it was irrelevant. All that mattered was the Time Lord mind, and now the stream was flowing. The Doctor was in a lot of pain.

Ace and Bev were still locked in and were desperate to get out. Bev explained how Rappell was her partner in every sense, so his death must have affected her. Ace explained how the Doctor thought the phantoms were an entity using the corpses of the dead to communicate. And he was right. Something was going on outside and somehow Ace and Bev escaped to look. It was Rappell, or at least his corpse. The entity spoke through the dead but didn't mean any distress or disrespect. The entity claimed how Rappell's feelings were still there, but this was too much for Bev to take. She and Ace went outside into the jungle.

The Dalek test subject had successful if downloaded the information and was disconnected, gained self control and was now fully awaking, assimilating its kowledge on everything. Literally everything. Frightening. The Daleks' mission was complete, and they'd got an added bonus. The Doctor's neural functions were at zero. The Doctor was pronounced dead.

The Daleks wanted the Special Weapons Dalek to be activated, and destroy the library facility now that they'd accomplished their mission. Outside, being lead by Rappell in a rescue attempt, the Dalek test subject was there and approaching Ace and Bev, ready to exterminate.

Not the best of cliffhangers, it's happened too many times before with the Daleks. The cliffhanger should have been the pronouncement of the Doctor being dead! However, a solid part but I think this story isn't going to be as great as I think it could be! There needs to be more danger and action, it is the Daleks after all!

Part Four

This was much better, a great concluding part to the audio and rescued the story from being just good. It was much better than 'good.' After what I considered a poor cliffhanger, the Dalek test subject was exterminating all around but missed its targets. It damaged the walls of the library, Ace and Bev hadn't quite left as I suspected but that was their intention! The Dalek's systems were unbalanced and unsafe. It exterminated a hole in the library walls and Ace and Bev left into the jungle through it, whilst Rappell stayed and would deal with the Dalek. He was though exterminated and killed for the second time in this adventure! But it seemed he was still succeeding! A life form was invading the Dalek casing, an aqueous form, the entity of the phantoms? I loved this idea, it was very clever! Rappell was still here, living in the rain. Any aqueous form was what the entity lived within. And now the Doctor was with them!

The Doctor was a bit confused, he couldn't see his body, but the entity explained it was where he'd left it. Dead and hooked up to the wetworks. The entity explained though how the Doctor wasn't dead, but was on the brink before the entity stepped in. They'd saved the Time Lord and transferred his consciousness into the data store of the wetworks. But now a horrific revelation was discovered.

The entity explained how they were the wetworks and were all that was left of the people of Kar-Charrat. Elgin was guilty of causing this. Meanwhile, the Daleks knew that the rogue Dalek had been destroyed mysteriously and they knew that this unknown life form invaded Dalek casing. The Dalek test subject claimed that they were non hostile however. There was conflict amongst the Daleks.

The Kar-Charratians explained how they didn't live in water or aqueous form, but in fact they were that aqueous form. They explained to the Doctor how nobody was aware of the genocide that occurred to their people. The librarians were the cause of genocide! A shocking revelation. They explained how Elgin had come up with the rumour of phantoms on the planet and any voices would be ridiculed. They explained how the wetworks was a prison. The library wetworks was in fact the Genocide Machine. The Kar-Charratians explained how each drop within the wetworks was a living being, each of which had sickeningly had its mind wiped and replaced with data. The Doctor was horrified.

Things didn't look like getting any better for the Kar-Charratians though as they knew the Daleks intended on destroying the wetworks facility with the special weapons Dalek. If they did destroy the wetworks, the planet's natives would be dead. The Daleks though needed use yet as they had another test subject and fitted it up. The second one was recovering by the looks whilst the first subject had been destroyed. Slightly more clarification would be appreciated but I don't think it really affected anything. They planned on using the mind of what was left of the Doctor as the pathway, but would he be suitable now dead? The Kar-Charratians had a plan of their own though and were to use power to download the Doctor back into his physical form, it was successful and the Doctor was alive.

The Time Lord confronted Elgin and was in outrage, totally disgusted at the librarian's actions. The Doctor though attended urgent matters regarding the next move of the Daleks. Dalek presence was absent as they now planned on destruction and prepared the Special Weapons Dalek. They reported back to the Emperor on Skaro and the Emperor demanded the test subject to he returned to Skaro and the wetworks to be destroyed. The Emperor was displeased at the state of the first test subject and the failures of the mission thus far.

The Doctor intended on getting to the TARDIS but by now the Daleks had discovered that Ace and Bev had escaped captivity. The Doctor was happy at Ace's escaping and damaged that seemed to have been caused. The Dalek scientists reported back about the casing invasion and determined that the Dalek creature was drowned due to an increase in aqueous substance.

Ace and Bev were at the latter's ship and the Doctor, Elgin and Prink soon joined. The Doctor planned on releasing the Kar-Charratians into the rain from the works, and as Ace suggested, what better way than blowing a hole in the roof of the library? Meanwhile, due to the Dalek casing being under threat, the Ace duplicate was to go and try prevent the Doctor and co reach his TARDIS. Ace and Bev were caught up to speed on what had happened at Elgin's doing, the Doctor claimed it was right up there with the worst atrocities he'd been unlucky enough to witness. They reached the TARDIS, but it was still guarded. The Kar-Charratians travelling about with them in the rain could do something about that and disabled the guards. A nearby waterfall was explained as the equivalent of a major city to the planet's natives. A beautiful equality. The Daleks were disabled and the now the path to the TARDIS was clear.

The duplicate though soon arrived and had Elgin in her group, holding him over the edge of the waterfall. The Doctor being sentimental was his weakness and despite his disgust towards the chief librarian, he couldn't stand and watch him die. The duplicate wanted the TARDIS to be surrendered but after three parts of silence Prink finally spoke! He'd had enough, got a weapon in hand and shot the duplicate and saved Elgin. Ace's duplicate had survived though, with a hole in its body, it was still functioning fine and heartlessly killed Prink! With a hole in, the duplicate was under threat of the Kar-Charratians as they intended on filling that gap with water! The waterfall majestically moved as the entity worked together and now the duplicate's circuits were failing. She was dead. The fivesome entered the TARDIS.

The TARDIS materialised into the library and Ace exited into the path of the Daleks, pretending to be the duplicate. The Doctor faked defeat and claimed the rest of the librarians and Bev were unavoidably destroyed. The Daleks soon intended on the wetworks being destroyed, they selfishly wanted infinite knowledge only to be that of the Daleks. Conflict amongst the Daleks still remained between the test subject and the Dalek Supreme. The subject ignored the authority of its higher command and even protected Ace from extermination after the Supreme worked out she wasn't the duplicate! A Dalek with sense and morality? The test subject claimed the Dalek Supreme's orders were illogical.

Ace was loading the wetworks surroundings with explosives whilst the test subject and Special Weapons Dalek ensued battle! The Doctor set the wetworks to release the Kar-Charratians at the instance the explosives would go off. The Dalek Supreme had retreated to the mothership and now the explosives had been set off and the Kar-Charratians were free, the Special Weapons Dalek was destroyed. The planet's natives set off into the rain. The Dalek Supreme once more reported back to the Emperor on Skaro and all that was able to be reported was failure, thanks to the Doctor and the Kar-Charratians of course. The Emperor was outraged, claiming it totally unacceptable. The Supreme self destructed itself on the Emperor's command, the Dalek chief scientist would now take charge. It seemed the Daleks had another plan, something I imagine we'll hear in a future audio.

The library was all but destroyed now and the newly freed Kar-Charratians were free, and planned to reclaim their planet. Bev returned to her ship and the Doctor admired how there should always be room for a 'talented thief' in the universe, referring to himself of course. Elgin now realised what he'd done was a disgrace, but would wait for the Time Lords to arrive upon the Doctor's message and hoped he could salvage some books from the library's remains. Inside the TARDIS, the Doctor and Ace talked of how the test subject, all knowledgable, could have helped the Daleks. But for now, the Doctor had only delayed their plans.

My analysis;

Overall, The Genocide Machine was a very good audio debut for the Daleks! The plot was excellent throughout and I loved the selfish aims of the Daleks in trying to create a Dalek that had every single piece of knowledge, and then destroy its source! The library was excellent and Elgin was an intriguing character, I suspected there was something more to him throughout but I certainly wasn't expecting him to have caused genocide! I loved the name of the story not having anything to do with the Daleks, but in fact it was based on people we thought 'good.' Bev was a wonderful character and I just liked everything about her! I hope she can return in the future. Ace, a companion I wasn't a fan of in the TV serials, was actually pretty good in this! The Seventh Doctor though could have shown a bit more urgency but once he found out the truth about the wetworks his ruthlessness was outstanding. The mystery of the phantoms, who turned out to be the Kar-Charratians was excellent. I loved the comedy around Prink but his death was saddening. The return of the Dalek Emperor I adored and just wished he featured more! The Dalek Supreme was also great. And who doesn't love the Special Weapons Dalek? The conflict from the test subject was brilliant. The climax of the plot was very good and enjoyable, and was a great conclusion! My minimal criticism would be to have more original cliffhangers and a bit more clarification in some aspects.

Rating; 9/10.
